Rainy Shibooya Sunday

Marching protesters I banged into yesterday

‘Love Black people like you love Hip Hop!’

One black woman’s white placard reminded me of King of Pop

But the people here can’t read English.

‘No justice, No peace’ – the ramblers sang

But the people here understands only Nihongo slang

Rainy Shibooya Sunday

Racism is a virus, as noxious as Bat virus

But in the land of irrefutable homogeneity, nobody’s really conscious

The majority are Hachico the dog

Nonchalant observers, unmoving like a log

So the majority of the marchers were foreigners, or Gaijin

Ironically, here the word diversity means nothin’
